Shangri-La’s China World Summit Wing, Beijing celebrates Argentina’s World Malbec Day on 17 April 2013. Malbec wines as well as the best of Argentinean beef offerings will be featured in the Pine Garden, located on level six from 12 to 2 p.m.
World Malbec Day started in 1853, when the Argentinian president, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, made it his mission to transform Argentina’s wine industry. He tasked a French soil expert to bring over new vines and amongst his selection was Malbec, which went on to become the most well-known varietal in Argentina. Another Argentinean famous export is its beef, known for its high-quality and delicious taste. Calves are born and raised on natural pasture without hormones or growth promoters, which adds to the quality of the Argentine livestock, making them tender and healthy.
More than 142 events were organised in 68 cities in over 43 countries around the world in 2012. Now in its third year, World Malbec Day is celebrated for the first time in China World Summit Wing, Beijing. This exclusive event will see over 200 guests from the Argentinean Embassy gracing the inauguration on 17 April. A selection of Malbec wines will also be available throughout the year in the wine list of China World Summit Wing, Beijing.
A three-course lunch and dinner steak menu with optional Argentinean wine pairing inclusive of Malbec wines will be available in Grill 79 from 18 to 26 April 2013. Prices start from RMB 350 plus 15 per cent service charge per person for lunch and RMB 788 plus 15 per cent service charge per person for dinner.
