Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang's Iconic Resort

Rasa Sayang Entrance

Situated along the northern shoreline facing the calm Andaman Sea, Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang sits within a 30-acre tropical landscaped garden, interspersed with centuries-old rain trees and the resort's Malaysian-inspired architecture. The resort has been captivating hearts and acquiring customer loyalty since its opening on 9 November, 1973.

The iconic resort has undergone an unprecedented MYR 100 million (approximately USD 27 million) redevelopment programme and reopened on 28 September, 2006 after closing for 21 months.

CHI, The Spa is the most stunning addition to the resort.  The concept of CHI, Shangri La's signature spa brand, is to provide a sanctuary of tranquillity inspired by the legend of Shangri-La.  Its blend of Asian healing rituals and therapies is enhanced by traditional practices of Malay well-being.  This is the first CHI, The Spa in Malaysia and this spa has an Asian-inspired structure and rustic wooden roofscape.  It is one of the country’s most spacious spas and has a garden sanctum, yoga pavilion and 11 private treatment villas.

The resort comprises 304 guestrooms and suites, most of which have been extensively refurbished and expanded.

The Rasa Wing features exclusive amenities and services such as express check-in and check-out service, shoeshine service, complimentary à la carte breakfast at Feringgi Grill or a buffet breakfast at the Spice Market Café, all-day refreshments, afternoon high tea and evening cocktails with canapés at the Rasa Wing Lounge. Twenty-four Rasa Deluxe Rooms offer direct access to the pool and garden grounds, each with its own private garden patio framed by wooden trellises and flowering plants.

The 52 Rasa Premier Rooms measure 62 square metres each and offer all the refinements of a suite, including LCD television screens and a two-person, marble-inlaid soaking tub on the private balcony overlooking serene sea views.

Other facilities consist of 14 meeting and function rooms including a 300-capacity ballroom, a Health Club, a par three executive golf course, three tennis courts, a water sports centre, two swimming pools, six restaurants and bars offering an array of international and local cuisine, a Turtle Eco Centre and a herb garden.
