JACKIE JS LEE UNVEILS COLLABORATION WITH SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, AT THE SHARD, LONDON

JACKIE JS LEE UNVEILS COLLABORATION WITH SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, AT THE SHARD, LONDON

London February 2016 – Jackie JS LEE unveils the second chapter of her collaboration with Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London; a capsule collection of two silk scarves inspired by ‘East meets West’, which will be sold exclusively at the hotel from 19th February 2016, the date of J. JS LEE’s London Fashion Week showcase.

Taking inspiration from traditional Chinese culture and her own childhood memories of Hayao Miyazaki’s 1986 animation A Castle in the Sky and blending it with her signature design minimalism, Lee weaves a fantasy world in graphic motifs printed on silk. A marriage of magical Eastern promise and the modern innovation of Western Europe’s highest luxury hotel, the one-off graphic will be available in two vivid colour ways upon shimmering silk; Dawn; a dynamic contrast of a dazzling, lychee pink and lime zest green, and Dusk; a stylish marriage of sleek, midnight navy and gilded gold.

The scarf’s graphic portrays London’s cityscape from the perspective of the clouds; The Shard itself referenced as ‘the castle in the sky’, supported by an array of iconic London landmarks. The scarf typography also references mythical creatures as an embodiment of the fantasy world of the film; a tale of a young girl’s quest to save the only city which still floats in the sky; encapsulating the history of nature embracing humanity.

This will be the second collaboration between Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, and J. JS Lee; who previously joined forces to launch the hotel’s Cultural Salon series. Last year, J. JS LEE unveiled a stunning sartorial showcase alongside fellow British-Korean design talent, hosted in Western Europe’s highest bar, GONG, on level 52 of Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, to celebrate the hotel’s first birthday and launch of its Cultural Salon; a year-long calendar of events with a glittering roster of ‘East meets West’ creative luminaries; including Sir Paul Smith, Hanif Kureishi CBE, and Beatrix Ong MBE.

The Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London X J JS LEE silk scarf collection will be sold exclusively at the hotel, for £100 per scarf.

Notes to Editors:
Born in Seoul, Korea, J. JS LEE, Jackie Lee, started the brand in London after studying a graduate pattern course at Central Saint Martin’s in 2007. Following two years developing as a pattern cutter at Kisa London, Jackie returned to continue studying at Central Saint Martin’s where she graduated with a MA in Fashion Design. The 2010 MA Graduation Collection was rewarded the revered Harrods Award and received critical acclaim with International fashion press and a surge of buyer attention. In March 2010, the eponymous label, J JS LEE launched, championing sleek, chic, androgynous tailoring.
