Tuaran... Following the success of Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort & Spa’s 90 Premier Rooms at its Ocean Wing, the resort recently completed a USD 20million refurbishment and renovation project of its 326 guestrooms including public areas of its Garden Wing.
The lobby, overlooking the South China Sea saw its first major refurbishment with earth colored tone decorations and furniture adorning the area and carefully designed interior to ensure fluid movements by guests and staff. Maximizing the space without compromising the guests’ comfort and convenience that complements the lobby itself, the lobby lounge exudes a sublime elegance to ensure a relaxing experience at anytime of the day.
With the rooms upgrade, guests can expect a renewed sense of comfort and luxury that combines the traditional local touches with modern facilities such as ethnic style artworks, wall mounted wide screen television, complimentary wi-fi and broadband connectivity and international satellite channels.
For a better fitness experience, the fitness centre has been given a facelift starting with its relocation, providing a state-of-art fitness equipment and located adjacent to the fitness centre and the resort’s latest addition to the myriad of facilities is the internet café that includes four internet stations, reading corner, board and card games as well printing, photocopying and faxing services. Tea, coffee and juices as well as savory pastries, cakes and sandwiches are also available for those wishing to lounge and relax.
Another area which received an upgrade is the poolside which has undergone a beautification project, inviting guests to enjoy the new lounge deck chairs or daybeds placed neatly on the newly built wooden platforms that face either the swimming pool or the South China Sea.
Enhancing the swimming pool experience, a 40-foot tall pool slide stands erected, providing an exhilarating 2 turnings or 'double-s' slide down to a watery splash, a new addition to the many facilities that promotes family bonding in the resort.
A walkabout around the premises presents several other areas which received a touch up, most with water and fire features beginning from the port cochere where the garden reveals a fountain, the lobby staircase with a steady stream of waterfall adorning the side wall and an extended open air seating for the coffee house with a water garden right in front that complements the view of the sea and swimming pool area. When evening sets in, the torches are lit up, and the contrasting natures of these two elements evoke a sense of peace and tranquility that adds in to the ambience.
