Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, 28 January 2014 – Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu won the inaugural Sabah State Award and Exceptional Achievement Award under the prestigious Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award.
The award presents an opportunity for public recognition of the business and industry’s environmental accomplishment, as well as the leadership that serves to create environmental awareness amongst enterprises that have yet to demonstrate environmental stewardship.
The Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award, presented every two years since its inception in 1966, is the premier private sector environmental award for businesses and industries in Malaysia. There are three levels of environmental performance awards, namely, Notable Achievement, Exceptional Achievement and Excellent Achievement.
“It is extremely encouraging for us to receive these two coveted awards, the Sabah State award and the Exceptional Achievement award. The confidence that everyone has in us is reassuring and it is rewarding to know that the hard work contributed by each staff member of our organisation is the very reason why we are so successful today. I would like to congratulate the rest of the winners and we will definitely learn from one another and be inspired to exceed and achieve greater levels of excellence,” said Craig Powell, general manager of Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu, with respect to the latest achievement.
