Shenzhen, China, 9 October 2013 – Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen presents a diverse selection of Turkish dishes prepared by Turkish Guest Chef Khaled El Elimi at Café Zen from 14 October to 27 October 2013. Dining guests will stand a chance to win a range of lucky draw prizes, including a two-night stay in the newly opened Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul, Shangri-La’s second hotel in Europe.
The history of Turkish cuisine can be traced back to the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century, when homes were fitted with huge kitchens and feasts were central to daily life, the military, religion and even politics. Due to Turkey’s strategic position on the 30 kilometre Bosphorus strait separating Europe and Asia, established trade routes gave the Turks freedom to experiment with spices and textures in their food, which spans a mélange of influences from Central Asian, Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines.
Highlights of the Turkish promotion at Café Zen include the authentic specialties Bahratli Kuzu Budu Firinda (Roasted Leg of Lamb with Herbs and Spices), Balik Pikakisi (Baked Sea Bass with Vegetables and Olive Oil) and the Sultan’s delight, Hunkar Begendi (Lamb Stew with Cream Eggplant). An array of Turkish timeless desserts, such as Tel Kadayif (Shredded Filo with Walnuts), Yeşil Fistikli Revani (Pistachio Semolina Cake) and Balli Börek Stickler Puff (Puff Pastry Sticks with Honey) will be available at the lunch and dinner buffet. Guests will also receive a glass of Ayran, a Turkish foaming yogurt drink, for free during meals.
The Turkish delights will be available at the regular price of Rmb208 per person for lunch from Mondays to Fridays and Rmb248 per person on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner is available at Rmb278 per person from Sundays to Thursdays and Rmb338 per person on Fridays and Saturdays. Children aged between 6 and 12 years can enjoy the buffet for half the price, and children aged five years and under may eat for free if accompanied by paying adults. Prices are subject to a 15 per cent service charge.
