Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai Offers Board Meeting Package

Shanghai, China, 17 July 2013 – From now until 28 February 2014, Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai offers a day’s use of the Chairman’s and President’s Room for guests reserving 10 rooms in the River Wing.  Similarly, guests reserving 10 or more rooms in the Grand Tower will be entitled to a day’s use of the Summit Room.

Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai’s two exclusive and intimate meeting room types are reserved only for the most discerning guests.  The Chairman’s and President’s Rooms are situated in the River Wing, while the Summit Room is located in the Grand Tower.

The rate for one night’s stay in the River Wing starts from RMB1,688 per person and one night’s stay in the Grand Tower starts from RMB1,988 per person.

These rates include a full-day meeting package in the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms or The Summit Room from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the following benefits:

  • Morning and afternoon coffee breaks with four snacks per break
  • Reception table with flower arrangement
  • Buffet lunch at Yi Café or Western set lunch in the function room
  • Use of one white board or one flip chart with markers
  • Writing materials, pencils, iced water and mints
  • Hotel signage to indicate the venue of the event
  • Use of built-in audiovisual equipment
  • Use of wireless high-speed Internet

About the Summit Room, Grand Tower
Located in a prestigious area on Level 1 of the Grand Tower, The Summit Room with and area of 360 square metres is the ideal venue for intimate and exclusive events or high-powered meetings, modern and chic dinners or events for captains of industry and for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
 
Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai’s elite service team – an assembly of the most experienced sommelier, butlers and international culinary team – attends to guests invited to The Summit Room, creating an atmosphere of personalised service within a noble private residence.  The hotel’s Events Concierge team will support event organisers in managing anything, from photocopying to flight bookings.

The Summit Room, which cost about RMB6 million to renovate, has an exclusive entrance for a high level of privacy.  Guests can also enter via the Grand Tower lobby.  Designed by LRF Design of the United Kingdom, The Summit Room is pillar-free and has a luxurious residential setting.  The spacious and expansive space is clearly defined by a living room, an 18-seat boardroom, 18-seat dining hall and a built-in terrace with natural sunlight.

Marked by clarity, simplicity, symmetry and harmony, The Summit Room is gently lit by a full ceiling of crystal chandeliers and by natural sunlight.  The generous use of rosewood and luxurious marble combined with plush furnishing and fixtures enhance the feeling of exclusivity and class.

The space is delicately, yet definitively framed by Chinese literati paintings.  Chen Jiang Hong’s ink wash paintings depicting the Chinese botany of bamboo and lotus anchor the hall, with one on either end.  Lu Jun’s works, on the other hand, gently leads the viewer through space with his digital photography of ink in water, which resembles traditional landscape calligraphy.  It is truly a class befitting scholars and officials of the modern day.

An iPad controls all in-room audio and visual equipment, including the state-of-the-art LCD 4000 Lumens Panasonic Projection system, mobile televisions and Vellux service buttons that ensure attentive service without impeding on privacy.

About the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms, River Wing
The “19th century mansion” style is a “first” in concept for Shanghai.  These two Victorian style rooms are an entity, both regal power venues for exclusive or high-powered meetings, elegant dinners and events, for captains of industry, top ranking officials and those who appreciate the finer things in life.  Spanning a total area of over 630 square metres, the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms are ideal for upscale private and exclusive dining, entertainment and launches, or as an alternative to the usual locally catered events.

Located in a private distinct area on Level B1 of the River Wing, the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms are a departure from the traditional conference centre and meeting room, moving into a separate residential environment.

At a renovation cost of about US$2.5 million, these grand rooms enjoy an exclusive entrance via a private drive through from the car park for a high level of privacy.  Entrance is also available via the River Wing lobby.

The Chairman’s Room, themed with royal blue carpeting, comprises a library, boardroom and dining hall spanning a total area of 232 square metres.  The President’s Room, themed with royal red carpeting, comprises a living room, sitting room with a bar and billiard room spanning a total area of 230 square metres.  The rooms share a 168-square-metre grand hallway and common foyer with a fireplace.

Both rooms are exclusively manned by a dedicated team of butlers and chefs providing personalised service within a noble private residence.

Designed by Wilson & Associates, the Chairman’s and President’s Rooms are immaculately designed for a comfortable, personal and residential outlook.  The design, decor and ambience take on a classic Victorian characteristic, with modern technology infused into the environment, creating a symbiotic entity of subdued state-of-the-art technology co-existing seamlessly with regal grandeur.

The generous use of wood and luxurious marble combined with plush furnishings and fixtures enhance the feeling of exclusivity and class.  Cleverly hidden technical equipment only become apparent when needed.  Strategic lighting creates ambience and artificial daylight, while the overall decor is brightened with colour.  Meeting tables, lecterns and podiums lend an impressive outlook, eliminating the feel of a traditional sterile meeting room setup.

Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai is located in the Lujiazui finance and trade district of Pudong (or East Shanghai), which is being developed to become the country’s business hub.  The hotel is ideally located on the eastern bank of the famous Huangpu River, overlooking Shanghai’s legendary waterfront strip, The Bund.  A historic landmark famous the world over, The Bund was Shanghai’s financial centre in the early 1890s.  Today, it is a showcase of turn-of-the-century architecture.
