Shangri-la Hotel, Guilin establishes staff dormitory

Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin has established a staff dormitory.  The hotel’s general manager and Executive Committee members attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on 28 December 2012. 

 

The newly completed staff dormitory is located in the Qi Xing Xin Cheng area in the Qi Xing Municipal District and just a 20‑minute drive from the hotel.  The seven-storey, 98-suite dormitory area has 14 suites on each floor and can accommodate 285.  The building took more than a year to renovate and decorate, and is now equipped with a 24-hour monitoring system, automatic fire alarm and fire fighting system and an access control card system to ensure staff safety. 

 

 The dormitory has a living area and an activity area, and all equipment meets the needs of modern-day living.  The living area has a laundry room, a kitchen and a restaurant and is equipped with a kettle, a microwave oven, an electric water heater, air conditioning, a television and a refrigerator.  In order to enrich the lives of the staff, there is also an Internet lounge, and the hotel provides a regular bus service between the hotel and the dormitory. 

 

“Today is a big day.  The staff dormitory has been completed with care and hope.  The provision of a safe, comfortable, clean and convenient living environment for staff is the main idea behind the dormitory.  I welcome all of you to our new home,” said David Liu, the general manager of Shangri-La hotel, Guilin. 

 

Front Office Manager Wu Chuanbo said, “Spacious and bright, neat and comfortable, all the facilities and equipment were set up.  And the hotel prepared biscuits, instant noodles, milk and fruit to welcome the staff members who will move into the new dormitory.  These touching actions really made us feel that we are part of the family and we are so glad to live here to enjoy the new year.”
