It was to call all the Baotou people take part in the activity to turn off the light for one hour. Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., Shangri-La Hotel, Baotou turned off its lights in most back-of-the-house areas and dim the lights in public areas, restaurants and the hotel exterior.  Guests were encouraged to participate by turning off the lights in their guestrooms, using linen napkins instead of paper napkins, and taking leftover food home to reduce food wastage.

Beyond dimming the lights, hotel called guests and employees to engage to the theme Earth Hour activity of this year to improve the smog weather in China. Guests could write down a action of it on the “Commitment Wall” in the hotel lobby. The Lobby Lounge prepared a special “Blue Sky” cocktail for the guests.
