Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot First Introduces Kong’s Cuisine in Inner Mongolia

Huhhot, China, 23 March 2016 – Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot’s signature Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace, has invited guest chefs from Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu to offer local citizens the Kong Family Cuisine from 6 to 17 April 2016.  Guests will be able to experience the authentic exquisite food and the profound essence of Chinese culinary culture.    

Inherited Kong Family Cuisine is a combination of Shandong regional Lu methods and Su cuisine from the south of China, prepared with unsparing attention to the ingredients, taste, colour and presentation and with the dish names alluding to auspicious meanings.  Influenced by the imperial Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644–1912) dynasties, the Kong Family Cuisine centres around elaborate banquets, royal commemorations and religious ceremonies.  During the promotional period, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy hot and cold selections from an à la carte menu at Shang Palace.    

On 10 April 2016, the hotel will host Kong’s Feast, a specially created themed banquet, in Grand Ballroom on level two with a menu set for tables of 10 people.  Waitresses dressed in traditional Chinese costume will graciously present a spectrum of selected delicacies.  Dishes like Three-Ingredient Soup (Chicken, Duck and Pig Trotter Soup), Peasants’ Harvest (Farm-Style Pancakes served with Four Condiments), Wisdom Frees Perplexity (Braised Pork Ribs stuffed with Spring Onion Stalk) and Lu Wall’s Hidden Collection (Prawn Roll wrapped in Crispy Vermicelli) will delight the guests’ taste buds.  Tables will also be decorated with writing brushes, ink sticks, ink slabs and papers in line with the whole theme. 

In addition, classic performances will lead the guests back in time to Confucius’ era.  With the background of the ancient Book of Songs, performers will dance in the rhythm of Tai Ji with Chinese calligraphy shown on LED screen.  Guests may indulge themselves in the authentic gastronomic world while enhancing the experience with this splendid tailored show.  Kong’s Feast will definitely present guests the uniqueness and essence of the Kong Family Cuisine.
