The hotel also presented guests some love-shaped Christmas charity cards, on which they could write wishes on mangrove conservation and caring for the environment.

After an exciting five seconds, all guests participated in the Christmas lighting countdown, and the lush Christmas tree was lit brightly. After the ceremony, sixty-five guests donated money and wrote their wishes on the cards, which were all hung on the Christmas tree.

In addition, the hotel offered traditional sweet and savory Christmas delicacies for charity sale. All profits will be donated to the hotel’s Sanctuary: Care for Nature project – Mangrove Conservation.

Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve, located in the northeast of Hainan Province, is China’s first mangrove protection district. It is listed in the Directory of Wetlands of International Importance in 1992. Mangroves are a unique inter-tidal wetland ecosystem found in sheltered tropical and subtropical shores, which receive input from regular tidal flushing and from freshwater streams and rivers. The mangrove forest provides food and shelter for a bewildering variety of land and aquatic animals, and is very important for maintaining biodiversity.
