Identified as ‘the pride of Taiwan’, the National Palace Museum in Taipei is home to more than 650,000 ancient Chinese artefacts, making it one of the largest museums in the world. The world class National Palace Museum is a museum of art that houses the world’s most extensive collection of artefacts and artworks from ancient China.  Most artefacts which are on display here are of superior quality and are collections of well known ancient Chinese emperors. At a given time, the museum has sufficient space to display only 15,000 pieces of its extensive collection. Therefore, most of its treasures are carefully set aside in air conditioned cellars. Once in every three months, the artefacts on display at the museum are generally rotated. Therefore, only 60,000 of the total collection can be discovered a year. Meanwhile, to view the entire collection at National Palace Museum it would take almost 12 years.

The all embracing collection at this phenomenal museum includes artefacts created from porcelain, jade, enamel, bronze, embroidery, lacquerware and tapestry. There are also a large number of valuable documents and books featuring early Chinese calligraphy. However, the oldest artefacts featured at the museum are the prehistoric pieces of pottery which are more than 5000 years old.
