Like most things in Shanghai, shopping culture has expanded dramatically. Shanghai is now home to some of China’s finest department stores, including Western and Japanese style outlets such as Yaohan, Isetan, Metro and Carrefour are present in Shanghai. Additionally, jade, silk, handicrafts, sculptures and antique vases are all easily found—particularly in tourist hot spots such as Nanjing Road and Yu Garden.
Because the competition is so fierce among Shanghai retailers, bargaining is widely accepted, even in some department stores.
