Exploring Penang

Pulau Penang, the "Island of the Betelnut Tree", has long been an inviting destination for traders and travellers. This year, Malaysia celebrates the fifty fourth anniversary of its independence from Great Britain. Throughout the year,  the entire island is filled with numerous events, activities and celebrations to showcase its multi-cultural heritage.

Though the beach located just steps from your guestroom may be hard to resist, the resort is also less than an hour away from George Town, the oldest colonial city in the country.

Penang was founded by British traders in 1786 and had a century-long history of trade with China, India, the Middle East and Europe. This historical spice trading port offers the curious explorer a wealth of fascinating sights that reflect its diverse heritage up until today. With the largest number of pre-World War II buildings in South-East Asia and  its charming colonial architecture, the city was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.
