Taman Mini Indonesia

Taman Mini Indonesia which literally means 'Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park' is positioned in East Jakarta.  It is a fascinating recreational area, providing awareness on the natural and cultural wealth of Indonesia. Visitors to this impressive park will get a clear idea regarding the culture, nature and heritage of Indonesia.

Occupying an area of 250 acres, Taman Mini Indonesia provides visitors with valuable information through replicas, about how life goes on in the 26 provinces of the country.  The park was officially open for public viewing on 20th April, 1975.  The concept of creating this unique miniature version of Indonesia came from Tien Suharto, the former Indonesian first lady.  Her main intension was to instil national pride and integrity among the local population.  As a result, the Indonesian Miniature Project commenced in 1972, by the Harapan Kita Foundation.

A majority of the facilities at Taman Mini Indonesia comprises of the regional pavilions.  There are over 25 pavilions representing the sheer diversity of Indonesian architecture and livelihoods.  Each pavilion features no less than three distinctive examples of the provincial styles it embodies.

Taman Mini Indonesia is home to 15 different units of museums providing unmatched information on the country's culture, tradition and art.  Museums at this outstanding recreation site include the Indonesian Museum, Stamp Museum, Transportation Museum, Telecommunication Museum, Sport Museum, Insect Museum, Power and New Energy Museum and much more.

Listed as one of the finest attractions in Jakarta, Taman Mini Indonesia's list of attractions also includes 11 units of parks such as Orchid Park, Cokot Park, Jasmine Park, Keong Emas Flower Park, Bekisar Park, Bird Park and Seven Pillars Building.  Other recreational facilities consist of the Indonesian Children Castle, Among Putro Park, Ambar Tirta Swimming Pool, Wisata Village and Tanah Airku Theatre.
