Western District is one of Hong Kong's oldest areas, where the modern history of Hong Kong began. Belcher's Street, behind the hotel, was named after Edward Belcher, a British Navy officer who surveyed Victoria Harbour in 1841, the year that Hong Kong Island was first occupied by the British.
As this area is less developed than the Central business district nearby, you will see many traditional shops and have a chance to experience the local way of life and charm of Old Hong Kong. Its proximity to the Central Business district makes the area popular with tourists and business travellers.
