Known also as Mount Austin, Victoria Peak is a mountain in Hong Kong that provides the best location for a ‘perfect picture’ of this phenomenal city. Identified by locals as simply ‘The Peak’, Victoria Peak is positioned excellently in the western half of Hong Kong Island. Renowned as the island’s highest mountain, the peak boasts a height of 552 metres.

This striking landmark, which is immensely popular today, was hardly noticed during the initial six years of the history of Hong Kong.  However, following the setting up of the Peak Tramway in 1888, the mountain came to be acknowledged as ‘The Peak’. The Peak Tram is considered one of the best and safest ways to explore the hill and its surroundings.

Esteemed for its tropical climatic conditions and spectacular panoramic views, Victoria Peak is mainly home to the rich and famous.  Although the area is occupied by many dignified residents who continuously host lavish dinner parties, the surroundings remain serene. 

Victoria Peak is recognised as one of the finest places in the world to enjoy walks complete with unmatched scenery.  Visitors can begin the memorable walk up hill from Lugard Road. At the peak visitors will be welcomed with some of the world's most outstanding vistas. The views from the Victoria Peak stretch as far as China and Macau. Visitors can also enjoy the two hour hike from Lugard Road to Harlech Road that features breathtaking views of the harbour area.
