Butterfly Farm

For a change in scenery from the wind swept beaches of Boracay, venture towards the Butterfly Farm that has over 20 species of exotic butterflies and 150 plant species. Opened to the public since April 2005, this delightful Butterfly Farm holds a Wildlife and Collectors Permit to breed butterflies. Situated on Bulabog Beach, this fascinating tourist attraction in Boracay is an escape in to a world dedicated for butterflies.

The netted garden holds a treasure trove of over a hundred butterflies and the nursery adjoining the garden is where visitors can observe larvae and caterpillars. Educational and fun tours are also available to take you through the lush gardens, explaining the life cycle of a butterfly. The Butterfly Farm was merely a hobby of New Zealander Patrick Manion a retired chemist, and his Filipino wife Adela Jaudian.

The gift shop adjoining the farm has a host of traditional and authentic Philippine handicrafts such as Romblon marble, nito, abaca, Aklan pottery amongst others. Open daily from 8am to 5pm, the Butterfly Farm also provides a unique service of giving live butterflies for special occasions. The Butterfly Farm is known to provide butterflies to be released for weddings and other functions giving an almost magical and romantic touch to whatever the occasion.
