Taxis
Dubai has a large, modern fleet of metered taxis. The
starting fare is AED 3 plus a per kilometre charge, with a minimum fare of AED 10.
Starting fare from 10pm to 6am is AED 3.50, and from the airport is AED 20 regardless of the time of the day. As
drivers rarely carry much change, we recommend that you carry AED 10 and AED 5
notes.
Public Transit
Buses
Local buses run on a regular schedule and service volumes are adjusted on Fridays and public holidays in relation to the passenger demand. Fares are usually anywhere between AED 1 and AED 4.50 depending on your destination.
There are no cash transactions for bus fares and passengers would need a Nol Card (electronic smart card) with enough credit for the journey. Nol Cards are sold at ticket vending machines located at selected bus stops across Dubai as well as all operating Metro Stations.
Abras
Abras are small motorboats. They are the ideal
way to cross Dubai Creek. Two routes determine the course that abras take. One links Bur Dubai with the
Deira Old Souk. The other links the Old Souk with Sabkha on the Deira side.
The fare is AED 1. Sensible footwear is recommended.
Hotel Transfers
Traders Hotel, Dubai, provides complimentary transfers for in-house guests to Deira City Centre Shopping Mall and Al Mamzar Beach Park.
