Executive Chef Ryan Sonson brings 23 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry to the Shangri-La Hotel, Doha, his first post with the Asian luxury group.

Originally from the United States with Italian roots, Mr. Sonson began his career in free-standing restaurants and country clubs before moving to senior positions at five-star hotels in San Francisco, Newport Beach, Cairo and Singapore.

His clean, fuss-free signature style is inspired by his global travels and many diverse interests, including music, literature and contemporary art, but it is most influenced by a fortuitous move to Los Angeles in 2000 that introduced him to the California farm-to-table method and helped him learn to build tasting menus.
At Shangri-La Hotel, Doha, Mr. Sonson is working on sourcing ethically produced ingredients from local suppliers to be used in a wide range of signature dishes.
