Shanghai Airport Authority and Shangri-La Group jointly announced the official signing of a co-operation agreement for the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Shangri-La hotel project today. Leveraging on the developmental plans of the Hongqiao Business District and Shanghai Hongqiao integrated transportation hub, the new Shangri-La hotel will be an ideal venue for meetings, incentives conferences and events (MICE), plus offer the perfect catering space for social functions to locals and travellers alike. Construction is expected to commence in 2020. The hotel is targeted to be completed and operational in 2023.

Located in the north wing of Terminal 2, the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Shangri-La hotel is in the heart of the Hongqiao Business District, with gross floor area up to 55,000 square metres. The new hotel integrates a duo-brand experience of Shangri-La Hotel and Traders Hotel for guests to enjoy exclusive offerings of the two distinct brands. With lobby directly connected to Terminal 2 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, the hotel will provide a seamless connection to the High-speed Rail Station, city metro system and the upcoming maglev train between the Hongqiao and Pudong airports.

To meet business travellers’ needs for short transit and stays, the hotel will feature diverse facilities and spaces for business, leisure and flexible functions, as well as Shangri-La’s culinary offerings. The large size event space makes the hotel an ideal venue and setting for MICE, weddings and social events being held in the Hongqiao Business District. Catering services can also be customised to satisfy specific needs. In addition, guests will find greater convenience and a more personalised experience through a combination of innovative concepts and smart technologies in the project design.

Shanghai Airport Authority and Shangri-La Group both believe that the new hotel project will be a testament to the strengths of the Hongqiao integrated transportation hub. With Shangri-La Group’s operational expertise and its renowned Asian hospitality standards, the project will help to enhance Shanghai Hongqiao Airport’s world-class service standards and provide travellers, business guests and leisure customers with even more comfort, convenience, flexibility and diversified experiences.
