As part of the
effort to support with Baotou
Children’s Welfare Institution, Shangri-La
Hotel, Baotou
launched the ‘simulative family project’ in May, 2011. Two simulative families have been set up and six children have been assigned their own
‘home’ and have met their own ‘parents’.
The hotel created a humble and nurturing home
equipped with modest needs such as the necessary furniture, some electronic
equipment and goods for daily use. The ‘parents’ are social workers who have
selflessly dedicated their lives to rearing an adopted family
Through this new foster format, the hotel hopes
that the children can grow and get accustomed to a somewhat more normal
lifestyle with a family they can call their own. Already within the first three
months, the six children have enjoyed improvements in physical and mental
rehabilitation.
