Genuine CARE with Heep Hong Society
Heep Hong Society is a local non-profit organisation that is committed to providing professional care, education, training and family support services for children - from babies to students in junior secondary schools - who have developmental and learning problems. Since 2000, the organisation has made great strides in helping children with autism, Asperger's syndrome, ADHD and other specific learning difficulties and special needs.
Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, has been a supportive partner of the organisation since 2009 and held numerous charitable initiatives and periodic activities for the children. Today, 70% of the children are able to enter the “mainstream” educational system after spending a few years at the Heep Hong Society Centre.
Bird Cage Oil Burner Charity Sale
To ignite holiday cheer, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, has partnered with Goods of Desire to present an exclusive aromatic oil warmer that will add a special glow to any gathering. Created with matte white porcelain and embellished with a gold songbird, the burner resembles a birdcage and creates a soothing ambience when flickering candlelight gleams through its slots. The birdcage is embossed with Chinese clouds and topped with the signature Shangri-La ‘S’. The ceramic piece will be available for purchase for HKD 200 (about USD 26) in the hotel lobby. Proceeds will go directly to the hotel’s charity partner, Heep Hong Society, which supports education and rehabilitation organisations that help children with special needs.
Heep Hong Charity Mooncakes
Charity mooncakes presented in beautiful boxes decorated with drawings created by the Heep Hong Society were sold at the hotel’s mooncake counter during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The mooncake boxes contained four traditional mooncakes with white lotus seed paste and double egg yolk. All proceeds from the sales were donated to benefit the Heep Hong Society’s diverse services and facilities.
