Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen funds a scholarship programme for students who aren’t able to afford schooling. The programme contributes towards their education and supports their personal development. In 2011, the project had eight student beneficiaries from the Zi Jin district. In 2012, the project added another eight students from Lian Ping district.
In addition to financial support, the students were invited to enjoy a Shangri-La experience with a stay at the hotel.
Special Wishes for Special Needs
Starting in 2012, the hotel established its second embrace project, which provides care for children with autism at the “Ren Ai” and “Ren Shan” Rehabilitation Service Centres.
The children of “Ren Ai” and “Ren Shan” Rehabilitation Service Centres made beautiful artwork that was sold in guest areas of Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen. The revenue generated went directly to the centres to enhance their facilities and care for the children. Not only did it benefit the centre and the children financially, it also heightened the children's self-confidence once they understood that their artistic talents were appreciated and admired.
Last Christmas, children made Christmas cards with their wishes written inside. The hotel proceeded to grant all the children’s wishes which made their Christmas a truly special one.
