Traders Hotel, Singapore has partnered with Beyond Social Services (Beyond) since 2009. Beyond’s role is to curb delinquency among disadvantaged youth. As our beneficiary, Beyond will seek youth that wish to learn and work in the hospitality industry. The aim is to provide these young people with an education and job-skills training.
Annually, the hotel sponsors a hot dog stall for Beyond during its Youth United Day. Hotel colleagues contribute their Sunday afternoon to provide 1,200 hot dogs for the young people and their families.
In 2013, we embraced a second beneficiary, the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). One of the events we are involved in is a bi-monthly birthday lunch for their Sheltered Workshop group, which comprises 100 trainees. By partnering with SPD, we are helping to enable people with disabilities through employment and brightening their days with special events and activities. Working alongside SPD, we have learn to embrace inclusion and diversity.
Since the first event in April, our colleagues have volunteered to host birthday celebrations and interact with the attending guests. Thanks to our chefs and caring food sponsors, all our guests have enjoyed delicious and healthy lunches.
Each time we visit an SPD event, we are literally welcomed by a sea of smiles. We look forward to every celebration with our SPD friends!
