Kuala Lumpur, 20 September 2013 – Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has been named Hotel of the Year 2012 by the Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts Group. It is the first time the hotel has won this prestigious award.
“We are delighted and honoured to have won the Hotel of the Year 2012 Award,” said Lothar Nessmann, vice president and general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. “It’s due to the tireless effort of our dedicated staff at the hotel, and I would like to thank them for their wonderful teamwork.”
The award was based on several criteria, at the top of which were business results. For this, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur exceeded the target by 11.42 per cent, out-performing its seven competitors.
Customer loyalty to the hotel was noted to have risen significantly, as well as market share over the past year. Employee loyalty, commitment to training and development and the Shangri-La Experience were also taken into account.
In addition, industry awards the hotel has received in the past 12 months contributed to its winning the award.
