Readers of Condé Nast Traveler have named Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai one of the top hotels in the world in the magazine’s annual Gold List of the best places to stay in 2012. It ranks amongst the top five hotels in China, including Hong Kong. It is also amongst the 370 hotels, resorts and cruise lines in the world that had a ranking above 90.
The hotel has been invited into the Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle. A celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Condé Nast Traveler, the Platinum Circle is awarded to Gold List superstars – including hotels, resorts and cruise lines – that have made the list every year for the past five years.
Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List is an annotated guide to the world's finest properties and cruise lines, as selected by more than 46,476 readers of Condé Nast Traveler. A questionnaire was available to all readers through a secure website and the hotels were rated on food and dining, location, overall design, rooms and service. To qualify for inclusion in the rankings, a property had to receive a required minimum number of responses. Entries included the edited comments of readers intended to reveal a property's character rather than to catalogue its facilities.
The hotel first appeared in the magazine's Gold List in 2005, and has appeared in the Gold List for seven consecutive years since 2007.
