Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s culinary team prevailed at Chefs on Parade 2013, a four-day hospitality event, culinary competition and trade exhibit held at the SMX Convention Center on 28 February to 3 March 2013. The team won Great Banquet Challenge Champion and a Php 50,000 prize.
The winning team consists of Anatolio Bleza, JV Huevos, Ryan Reyes, Anatoly Barcenas and Rommel Gabriel, with Coach Virgilio Timola. Aside from the Great Banquet Challenge Championship, the participating chefs also received three gold medals, one silver medal, three bronze medals and one diploma medal; and distinction of the L'Assiette d'Or in Market Basket Continental, Ice Carving, Cold Meat Buffet Platter, Cold Seafood Buffet Platter and Japanese Boat Freestyle.
Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s culinary team brought home a total of 11 awards and because of this, won the Presidential Award for outstanding number of accolades earned. Judging the competition were some of the country’s well-regarded chefs and food experts, led by chairman of the board of judges, Chef Kurt Pozzato; Asian Food Channel host-chef, Bruce Lim and Emmanuel Stroobant; Davao-based expat chef, Michael Oberle; and New York-based Filipino chef, Alex Dino.
