Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong Goes Green with Complimentary Electric Car Charging Service and Electric Car Rides

In support of environmental protection, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong unveiled the first and only hotel electric car charging station in an urban business and shopping district in Tsimshatsui East.  In partnership with Mercedes Benz Hong Kong Limited, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong now provides complimentary shuttle service in electric cars, in addition to the hotel’s own fleet of Mercedes Benz limousines and Viano minibuses.

One of the hotel car park bays at the driveway is retrofitted with two 13-Amp green sockets that can charge two electric cars simultaneously.  This complimentary charging service is available to hotel guests around the clock while hotel parking policy applies.  The charger is easy to operate as electric cars just plug into the wall-mounted sockets at the hotel driveway.  In addition, hotel room guests can book with Concierge for free electric car shuttle rides around Tsimshatsui and Tsimshatsui East.

“To anticipate and meet growing environmental expectations, we are pleased to introduce this complimentary service not just for the convenience of electric car owners, but also helps increase environmental protection awareness, encourage the further development of required charging infrastructure, said Ulf Bremer, general manager of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.  “The electric car shuttle rides gives out zero emissions and thus improves roadside air quality and helps lower Hong Kong’s carbon footprint.  We are all conscious of our obligations to help reduce adverse environmental impacts which may arise through everyday activities and operations at the hotel.  We don’t stop here as it’s only a baby step in our long journey of continual environment improvement.”

Situated along the waterfront and right in the hub of the commercial, shopping and entertainment district in the heart of the Kowloon Peninsula, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong features 688 spacious guestrooms, six restaurants, a bar and a lounge with panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the city’s skyline.
