Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 20 January 2014 – Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai will usher in the Chinese New Year with festive celebrations commemorating 2014 as The Year of the Horse.
Upholding the brand’s proud Chinese heritage, Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai will welcome the new lunar year with a 14-day celebration culminating on Friday, 31January 2014, the first day of the new Chinese calendar.
Shang Palace, the hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant, invites guests to dine in a ceremonial style banquet, feasting in the restaurant’s regal setting adorned with Chinese tapestries and antiques from the Orient. Recently voted Dubai’s “Best Chinese Restaurant, 2013” by readers of What’s On Dubai magazine, Shang Palace offers two celebratory set menus, including dishes which are thought to bestow happiness, longevity, luck and prosperity.
The traditional festivity of the colourful Lion Dance will take place on 31 January 2014 at 10:18 a.m, regarded in Ancient Chinese Culture as a time to bring forth luck. The custom of Hong Bao, red envelopes containing up to Dhs 500 and fantastic prizes including a one night luxury stay at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, Shang Palace dining vouchers, and bottles of premium Taittinger, await the winners of one of the prized envelopes. The fabled Gong Fu Tea Show and a Chinese God of Fortune will complete the cultural and culinary celebrations.
The Year of the Horse is one of the best years in the Chinese calendar. The horse symbolizes travelling, freedom, healthy relationships and allows everyone who wishes to achieve success reach their goals. Individuals born in the Year of the Horse, are prophesised to be intelligent, competitive and strong leaders. Shang Palace marks this great year with two set menus available from 30th January to 2nd February 2014. The Happiness and Longevity set menu is priced at Dhs 288 per person for a minimum of two guests while the Luck and Prosperity set menu is priced at Dhs 418 per person for a minimum of five guests.
To compliment this offer. Shang Palace will continue to host its popular dim sum feast, from 26th January to 1st February for a special package price of Dhs 115 per person inclusive of soft drinks, water and Chinese tea.
