Shanghai, China, 26 September 2013 – Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai opens the mezzanine level of its all-day-dining restaurant, CAFÉ LIANG & mezzanine, adding a modern Japanese dining experience to the buffet-style concept offered on the first level.
The two-level CAFÉ LIANG & mezzanine treats diners to multiple dining options and cuisines. On the first level, diners can indulge in Asian and Western cuisines with a taste of Southeast Asian influence coupled with mainland Chinese classics. It features a “tick box” menu card for main courses integrated with buffet for appetisers and desserts.
A stylish spiral staircase connects the ground level to the mezzanine floor that offers contemporary Japanese a la carte menu and adds a modern twist to traditional Japanese classics. Diners can sit at the Sushi bar or at the live grill station and watch the chefs’ skilful hands at work. They can also choose the banquette seating overlooking the piazza.
Sushi, sashimi and hand rolls are made to order at the Sushi bar, while Robatayaki, Iroriyaki and Kushiyaki dishes are prepared at the live grill station. Freshly prepared Japanese-inspired dessert items are served from an open pastry kitchen in the restaurant. A semi-private Sake Room for 10 people also provides an exclusive dining experience for diners.

Jason Au is the Japanese chef of CAFÉ LIANG & mezzanine. The Hong Konger has honed his craft in the Japanese kitchens of restaurants in Ohio, New York, Dubai, Hong Kong, Beijing and now Shanghai. He bring food lovers an unexpected taste experience and beauty seekers a visual feast.

Signature Bento Box

An eight-course signature Omakase comprising Salmon Tartare with Caviar, Yellowtail Sashimi with Green Chilli, Scallop with Teriyaki or Panca Pepper Sauce, Roasted Cod with Sweet Miso, Beef Tenderloin with Teriyaki or Panca Pepper Sauce and Sushi Assortment (Salmon, Yellowtail, Tuna, Akami, Cucumber Roll), Miso Soup, Yuzu Crème Brulee.
Sizzling hot toban creates a visual effect and draws every guest’s attention with its aromatic smoke like a steaming train.
