Shangri-La’s care for nature project

SANCTUARY, Shangri-La's Care for Nature project was launched in 2010 with the aim of making a concerted effort towards biodiversity conservation and habitat protection. Hotels work on individualised projects which are developed, tracked and monitored after a biodiversity assessment takes place. To date, there are a total of 16 Sanctuary projects in place engaging stakeholders worldwide.

All of the Sanctuary projects involve partnerships with local organizations that have specialized knowledge and skills and a majority of the projects support the Shangri-La Eco Centre initiative, which seeks to engage with colleagues, guests and local communities about the importance of conservation by providing interactive learning experiences and other activities. To date, 13 hotels and resorts have Eco Centres.
