Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver Welcomes Parisian Chefs for an Unprecedented Epicurean Feast

Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver is excited to welcome award-winning chefs Christophe Moret and Samuel Lee Sum from the prestigious Michelin starred restaurants at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris. These gastronomic giants are flying in for two nights only to collaborate on an epicurean feast in celebration of the 8th Annual Chinese Restaurant Awards. Market by Jean-Georges will host East Meets West from 29 to 30 January 2016.

Representing the West Coast is homegrown talent Chef Ken Nakano from Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver, and internationally acclaimed Master Pastry Chef Thomas Haas. These master chefs will come together to prepare an eight-course menu that expresses each chef’s distinctive food philosophy, while presenting French, Cantonese, and West Coast cuisine. Guests can expect dishes such as We Wai Kai Scallop with Green Pepper and Yuzu Dressing, paired with Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Brut. The thread throughout this epicurean excursion is the collective passion these chefs have for showcasing seasonal products and the freshest ingredients. Delicately paired with some of France’s prestigious wines and Champagne, this East-meets-West dinner is culinary art at its finest.

“Working with international chefs of this caliber is very inspiring,” said Nakano. “We’re designing a menu that unites iconic cuisines, combining East and West, to create a once in a lifetime experience for our guests. I have a great respect for Chef Moret and Chef Lee and I’m looking forward to introducing them to the bounty of sustainable seafood and fresh produce available in British Columbia.”
