Feringgi Grill Presents “Blast From The Past” Menu

Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2013.  As part of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations, Feringgi Grill, the resort’s fine dining Western grill, will be revisiting retro menus from yesteryear.  Guests can expect to savour much loved, classic dishes beginning from the early 1970s with table-side preparations that require culinary flair. The promotion will be ongoing every Sunday for dinner.

“Our ‘Blast From The Past’ menu features original, authentic dishes we have collected and reprinted from our archived menus.  Old recipes are followed meticulously to recreate the simple yet delicious, wholesome dishes that propelled Feringgi Grill to popularity in the early days,” said Chef de Cuisine Matthias Tretbar of Feringgi Grill. “We hope that the taste of yesteryear will bring back nostalgic memories for the many fans and regular guests of Feringgi Grill.” 

Feringgi Grill has won many state, national and international accolades and awards,  including being listed in the first annual “101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around The World” by New York’s The Daily Meal.  The outlet was voted “Best Restaurant” in the Malaysian Tourism Awards in 1987.  It has appeared in MalaysiaTatler’s “Best Restaurants” list from 1994 to 2004 and from 2011 to 2013.  Travel + Leisure (US) named Feringgi Grill as “Best New Asian Restaurant” in its June 2007 issue.  Feringgi Grill was named the “Most Innovative Western Restaurant” at the national level by Malaysia Tourism in November 2009.  The Miele Guide 2010/2011 edition ranked Feringgi Grill as one of the “Top Five Restaurants in Malaysia” and recognised the outlet as one of “Asia’s Finest Restaurants” in the 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 editions.

Starters from the “Blast From The Past” Menu include Lightly Smoked Scottish Salmon, Beef Carpaccio, Sesame and Coriander Marinated Duck Magret, and Maine Lobster Cocktail.  Soups include Original French Onion Soup and Lobster Bisque.  Main dishes feature Baked Garoupa, French Pepper Steak Flambé, Whole Lobster, Baked Fillet of Halibut and Rack of Lamb Provençale.  Desserts include Macaroon Nougatine, Strawberry Cheesecake, Parfait Sweet Dream and Tiramisu Cake.  For reservations or more information, please call (04) 888 8788.
