Every year, on 20 October, members of the World Association of Chefs Societies commonly known as WACS, celebrate International Chefs Day. On this day, chefs around the world celebrate their profession and take the opportunity to promote not only the organisation (WACS) but also goodwill and friendship amongst each other, as well as take time to help people who are less fortunate.
It is also a day for helping young chefs. Most importantly, though it is a day to recognise the very important role that chefs play in our societies because, they have a great responsibility of not feeding people, but also giving nourishment and education.
Chefs are responsible for leading the way in using ingredients sensibly and responsibly. On this day, we salute their culinary spirit and their art of crafting magic for our taste buds.

At the break of dawn on Sunday, 20 October 2013, our guests will wake up to the melodious voice of Executive Chef Darren Conole wishing them a wonderful morning and spreading the warmth of the beautiful day. Our culinary masters will then be at your service from the moment you step out from your luxurious ride and enter Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel, New Delhi. Entertaining, assisting and ensuring the guests comfort all morning will be the chefs task as they work at the concierge desk, carry luggage up to the rooms or help guests check-in at the front desk.

It’s not yet Christmas, but the intoxicating aroma of the Cake Mixing Ceremony inthe lobby of Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel, New Delhi will bring alive the rich tradition, heralding and unveiling the spirit of the festive season in all its grandeur.
Spreading the cheer along with the chefs, the ceremony will invite participation of all media friends, celebrities, corporate guests and in-house guests amidst tradition and fanfare dressed in typical chefs attire. Guests and colleagues can roll up their sleeves and put their hands in the mixing pots to make the perfect Christmas cake.
An interesting array of fruits including raisins, glazed red cherries, orange peel, tutti frutti, black currants, dates, figs, dry ginger dried apricots, figs, prunes and such nuts as walnuts, cashew, almond flakes and pistachio, in addition to such spices as ground cardamom, cinnamon and cloves will be poured into a huge cauldron. The mixing shall reach a spirited level when endless bottles of liquors, including whisky, white and dark rum, vodka, gin, wine, beer and such syrups as golden syrup, molasses, honey and vanilla essence shall be added.
Afterward, the mixture will be placed in airtight bags and left to mature until around Christmas, when it will be blended with the cake batter and baked.
