Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman announces the appointment of Lori-Jean Collins as director of sales and marketing. Previously director of sales, Lori will now oversee a 40-strong team, including Sales, Communications and Marketing, Group and Events and Reservations, and ensure the resort’s sales and marketing goals are achieved. Reporting directly to hotel General Manager Mark Kirk, she will also continue to optimise third-party partnerships and joint-marketing initiatives.
Having been with the resort since 2011, Lori has been an instrumental figure to the sustained revenue growth of the three hotels – Al Waha, Al Bandar and Al Husn. Her solid leadership skills have seen the creation of an expert sales team. Prior to joining Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman, she oversaw the MICE and leisure markets at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ Regional Sales Office in Australia and New Zealand as director of business development.

Originally from New Zealand, a large amount of Lori’s earlier career was with Creative Holidays in Australia, where she developed a sales and marketing specialism within wholesale travel. She then joined venture and explore holiday operator, Travelspirit Group Ltd. as product manager and was soon promoted to regional destination manager of USA, Hawaii, Canada and the South Pacific. Together with her wholesale background, Lori then moved to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, where she has spent the past six years cultivating her current expertise in hospitality sales and marketing.
