Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu Is Recognized For Its Work With The Children’s Haven Orphanage

Cebu, Philippines, March 19, 2018 – Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu was recognized for its generosity and assistance to the Children’s Haven Orphanage by the Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ASFFPI), which conferred an Elite Award at its Annual Donors, Benefactors and Sponsors Day last month.

Named after the Nobel Peace Prize-winning German doctor and theologian who pursued his vocation as a medical missionary in Africa, the ASFFPI is a non-profit organization that provides social work intervention, foster care, education assistance, counseling and rehabilitation, and particularly concerns itself with the welfare of children, women and the elderly. Children’s Haven was first constructed in Cordova, Mactan, in 2004 and is currently home to 72 children.

The resort has organized different activities to support the orphanage, from bike-outs to raise awareness during the Ironman 70.3 triathlon, to donation drives onsite, and a Secret Santa initiative over the holidays.

Companies with meetings at the resort who wish to incorporate a corporate social responsibility aspect into their agenda are also given the opportunity to partner with the orphanage on a variety of projects, including feeding programs and building maintenance.

The resort continues to work with Children’s Haven on fundraising for its sustainable urban garden.
