As a reflection of its commitment to provide consistently outstanding facilities for its guests, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu announces the completion of the first phase of its refurbishment program. 75 luxurious rooms in the Shangri-La Wing are now available.
Design firm Ara Design Asia selected an “ocean-to-shore” theme of warm, golden sand and fresh turquoise ocean hues to integrate seamlessly into the resort’s existing structure and seaside location. Tropical elements such as coral and seashells inspire room accents.
Refurbished Superior Gardenview Rooms are warm and welcoming and feature views of lushly landscaped gardens. They provide a serene repose for guests after a full day of recreation.
Deluxe Seaview Rooms are decorated in a palette of seaside colors. They feature views of the resort grounds and the shimmering waters of the Mactan Channel.
Both room types are a spacious 36 square meters and have private balconies that open out on to spectacular vistas.
The Shangri-La Wing also has two new suite categories: the Casa Suite and the Veranda Suite. The ocean to shore theme continues in the suites’ design but it flows from the sandy palette used in the rooms to crisper ocean colors. Design elements used in the rooms have been refined to produce a tropical atmosphere.
The sprawling one-bedroom Casa Suites offer the luxury of space. Each suite features a convertible bed in the living room as well as a cozy snack dining area and a separate powder room in the foyer.
The exquisitely appointed Veranda Suites offer a private 30-square meter corner terrace that allows guests an expansive view of the property, or the privacy to luxuriate under the Mactan sun. It also features a separate children’s room with a daybed and en suite shower room, and a separate pull-down sofa bed in the living room.
The refreshed Shangri-La Suites are decorated in rich shades of taupe and turquoise, with accents of orange, silver and copper. The two-bedroom suites have a separate living room, dining room and pantry. The marble bathroom has a soaking tub and a separate shower cubicle.
The refurbished rooms and suites highlight fine Philippine craftsmanship in the capiz shell headboards, timber flooring and decorative fretwork lamps, as well as the use of sumptuous local materials like teak and mother-of-pearl. Modern, thoughtful touches such as adjustable mood lighting and a fully integrated extra pull-down bed have been added. Complimentary in-room wired Internet and Wi-Fi access is also available. In keeping with the resort’s green initiatives, materials have been developed and sourced locally when possible.
Ara Design Asia is an international design firm with 15 years of experience specializing in hospitality. The team’s senior designer, Alan Spinks, was part of the design team for the recently opened Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai. “The addition of a fresher and a more contemporary guest room product coupled with our legendary Shangri-La hospitality are sure to delight our loyal and first-time guests. These new rooms also promise to raise the bar, so to speak, of the level of accommodation on offer in Cebu.” said Ms Agnes Pacis, the resort’s director of sales and marketing.
