Abu Dhabi, 15 August 2013 – Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi will be offering exclusive wine tasting evenings with its head sommelier, Eduardo Perez, through the weekly Wine Club Sessions at Al Hanah starting August until December 2013.
Mr. Perez joined Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi in January last year to run the overall administration of the hotel’s wine operations. He is also responsible for the success of the hotel’s wine dinners. Prior to joining the Shangri-La family, he held the same post in a prestigious resort in Seychelles.
Mr. Perez has an extensive experience in wine tasting, having worked in New York, San Francisco, Barcelona, Mauritius, Madrid Seychelles, Doha and Dubai, and having undergone trainings from a three-Michelin star restaurant in Spain.
He is one of 13 semi-finalists out of 26 sommelier nominees in the upcoming 2013 Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Best Sommelier Competition to be held on 29 August 2013 as part of the five-day Shangri-La Wine Summit – Shanghai 2013. He is also a candidate for the Heidelberg Advanced Master Sommelier to be held in September this year.
The Wine Club Sessions invites guests to discover the premium wines in some regions of Europe and South America every third Friday of the month. The monthly themes are as follows:
- 23 August – New Zealand
- 20 September – Chile and Argentina
- 25 October – Spain
- 22 November – Bordeaux
- 20 December – Champagne
