Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu Presents 10 Reasons Why Guests Return

Since its opening, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu has remained the country’s premier deluxe resort, continuously refining its services and facilities. The following outlines 10 new reasons for guests to rediscover the resort.

Mini-golf park.  Located near the main pool, the fourteen holes combine sport with lessons in local geography, as each hole is a miniature representation of a Philippine landmark, such as Paoay Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or the Chocolate Hills of Bohol.

Slide and water play area. Children can make a big splash with the resort’s new, brightly colored water slide, where they can enjoy the exhilarating rush of zooming down into the main pool. Toddlers are not left out of the fun; the resort expanded its children’s pool and recently installed an Aquaplay area that includes three new slides and a baby bungee.

Play. Children can maximize playtime in the Adventure Zone, the resort’s three-storey indoor playground, with scheduled age-appropriate activities. Children are encouraged to paint, mold sculptures, engage in other arts and crafts sessions and join outdoor games organized by resort staff. The resident mascot, Polly the parrot, makes the occasional surprise appearance.

Food and beverage offerings. Adding an element of fun to the resort’s food and beverage offerings is Scoops, a poolside ice cream shop serving gelato in such tempting flavors as Dolce Vita and Blueberry Cheesecake. When the sun sets, guests can enjoy cocktails at the sleek and stylish Waves Bar overlooking the sea.

Memorable romance. Couples can dine in the intimate luxury of the Gazebo and Observatory, two seaside dining pavilions that offer sweeping views of the Mactan Channel. Exquisite set menus and a personal butler complete the experience.

Activities for adults.  For adults who wish to make the most of their stay, the resort has an extensive range of complimentary scheduled activities, including a snorkeling safari, garden tour and yoga. Lessons in scuba diving, golf and tennis are also available.

Pool butlers. The resort’s team of butlers takes the legendary Shangri-La hospitality down to the pools and beach, making sure that guests are as well looked-after outdoors as they are indoors.

The sanctuary. The resort’s commitment to preserving the environment is highlighted by its stewardship of the Shangri-La Marine Sanctuary. Now over 160 species of aquatic life can be found in the sanctuary. Guests are invited to join the team as members conduct regular reef checks and cleanup dives.

Spots of fancy. With 13 hectares, the resort has plenty of spaces for guests to discover. Surprises that await the wandering guest include a love seat in the gardens, a strategically situated hammock overlooking the beach, and a giant chessboard underneath the trees.

Wi-Fi Internet access. Following the groundbreaking group-wide initiative of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts to provide complimentary broadband Internet access in guestrooms and public areas in 2009, the resort has taken this service a notch higher by providing Wi-Fi Internet access in all its airport and city shuttle buses. Wi-Fi is also available in the resort’s  guestrooms, lounges, and function spaces.
