Beihai Park
Beihai Park is an
important relic of the grandeur of ancient Chinese architecture and landscaping.
Although it originated during the Liao Dynasty (916 – 1123), the designs of the
grounds evolved during the later eras.
Beihai Park
consists of several attractions surrounding a great lake. These attractions
make ingenious use of water, hilly terrain, natural landscaping and sculptures
to impart a sense of tranquillity.
Olympic Green
Located in the northern end of the
city’s central axis, the Beijing Olympic Green was the primary venue for the
2008 Beijing Olympics. It occupies a total land area of 1,135 hectares.
Natural attractions at the Olympic
Green include a forest park and lakes.
At the
Olympic Green are also popular sight-seeing attractions such as the National
Stadium (also referred to as the “Bird’s Nest”), the National Aquatics Centre
(known as the “Watercube”), the Olympics Tennis Courts and the China National
Convention Centre.
